Great service and great food. This was my first time visiting. We purchased a restaurant.com certificate for Cape Horn. I'm always up for trying new places and they didn't disappoint. Honestly their value is so good that you really don't need any coupon.my wife and I ordered the western omelet with a side of bacon. Sons ordered the Cape horn scrambler, daughter ordered the jk scrambler. I believe that was the name of it. our waiter was the absolute best with service as well as the hostess. just all around awesome service and really great food. it's close to home for us and we will definitely become regular customers. Matt was our waiter. ask for his section.

Our family visited Cape Horn Restaurant for dinner and was totally blown away by the great food, awesome prices and friendly service. The seafood was awesome. The crabcakes were mostly crab and tasted great. The seafood platter had quite a bit of variety and enough to share.

I had a restaurant.com voucher for this place so I decided to take the family there for dinner last night. I was surprised by the Yelp reviews because the Travelocity reviews were pretty good. My experience tended to coincide with the Travelocity experience more than the other Yelpers. We got here at 7:15 and it was pretty slow. There was one waitress working and she was covering all the tables. She was very friendly and pretty prompt. She took the time to discuss menu items. When she thought an item was out, she went to verify it before giving us false information and that was appreciated. I had a chicken fried chicken steak that was smothered in bacon gravy as well as mashed potatoes. My wife had pork chops and my son had chicken alfredo over pasta (that's what they called it). We had appetizers of Mac N Cheese bites and batter fried mushrooms. My wife and I each got french onion soup as well. The soups were amazing! This was by far the best french onion soup I have ever had in the York area. The appetizers were also very good but the main courses totally rocked. The bacon gravy was a wonderful surprise and a perfect complement to both my mashed spuds and chicken. My wife had apple sauce with her pork chops and said they were some of the best she has had. My son really liked his alfredo stuff as well. The service was good however the waitress did get forgetful on a few things i.e. getting salads to the table. We will be back at some point in the future, I am sure of that.

Average family diner breakfast. Eggs, home fries, and toast were nothing special. It wasn't bad but it wasn't great.

It is real hit or miss with is place. Sometimes it's good other times really bad. When good the service is quick and the food hot. When bad.....look out. Plan on 1.5 hours, cold undercooked food and really bad service

Had breakfast here Saturday morning with a group of about 20. We had called ahead and they were ready for us with a huge table. The service was prompt and friendly and the food was good. I had one of the breakfast specials, but I customized it by adding some eggs; This was handled with no problem. Coffees were refilled constantly.

First restaurant meal in my life I could not eat. My wife got the Haddock and it was hard and dry and totally inedible. I got a steak and it was obviously cooked days before and microwaved. A medium steak doesn't mean hard, chewy, and completely dry. At least my kids ate their kids meals but its hard to screw those thing up. Also the waitress was completely oblivious. If a couple take maybe two bites of their meals and don't ask for a carryout container that should send some kind of signal that the meal was disappointing. She didn't care about anything going on with us and the place was vacant. Not going back!

I ate at this restaurant a few times in the past and the food was acceptable (typical diner type food) and the prices were low. It was inexpensive, quick, clean, and local. I recently saw signs indicating that they are under new ownership so I decided to check it out. Unfortunately, I won't be going back. The menu prices are very inflated. $12- $13 entrees aren't that high for a nice family restaurant with up to date decor and quality ingredients but it is kind of high for cheap cafeteria food in an old, plain, corner-of-a-strip-mall hole in the wall. The food is okay for the most part but the sides leave a lot to be desired. For example, the mashed potatoes are not only instant, they are the worst tasting instant potatoes I have ever attempted to eat. School cafeteria potatoes are better. I ordered chopsteak from the daily specials. The chop steak came covered in cheese and onions. I was expecting a nice brown gravy and mushrooms because that is how it was served under the old management. My server was super nice as he explained that they have several types of chopped steak and I had ordered the wrong kind. He brought me the toppings I wanted but the whole thing could be avoided if the menu include basic descriptions of the food or possibly named dished better than "House Chopsteak" vs "Cape Horn Chopsteak." Honestly, I didn't even see the different forms of the same dish because I ordered off the specials list rather than from inside the menu. If I had noticed, I would have asked but really, the redundancy is unnecessary. On the plus side, their French onion soup is good, not too salty, and comes with cheese. Some local restaurants charge extra for cheese on French onion soup. If the new owners want to raise the prices, they need to improve the food quality and the decor as well. I can drive a few miles down the road and have bettter food at better prices. I intend to do just that from now on.

I also ate at the Cape Horn Family Restaurant (CHFR) a few times prior to the ownership change in May of 2012. I found the previous owners lacked the initiative to run a top notch eating establishment (I also patronized their restaurant in Collinsville, PA, Sugar and Spice, before they sold that establishment). I find some of Melanie T's comments to be incorrect. The new owners of CHFR had not raised their prices at the time of her review and only recently raised the price of the Breakfast Special a small amount and it is still a bargain. Also, I have eaten there many times since the change of ownership and have never been served instant mashed potatoes. I even checked with the owners to see if I was in error and they confirmed that they have always served real mashed potatoes. One of the pet peeves I have is the quantity of meat in the Creamed Chipped Beef and when I mentioned it to the new owners, suddenly I was found exclaiming "There's the Beef" instead of "Where's the Beef" It is also obvious the new owners take great pride in their establishment and have a great relationship with their employees. As far as Melanie's review of the Chopped Steak, I too saw the "Cape Horn Special" Chopped Steak but read the description and chose the regular version that is a staple on the menu. The portion is huge (I usually end up taking half home and having it for lunch the next day). I intend to continue to patronize this wonderful establishment and see continuous improvement on every visit.

I come here every other week on payday and bring my 2 kids before school for breakfast. They have pancakes and milk. We love our bi-weekly tradition not only for the food but the extremely friendly servers. My favorite breakfast in York county.

Nice quiet place to eat. Cheap food. However not the best food. I ordered chicken tenders and they were sub par. However the French onion soup was amazing!!!
